2010 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA
Support the National Transportation Objectives Act of 2009 (H.R. 2724) Establishes national transportation objectives and performance targets for the purpose of assessing progress toward meeting national transportation objectives.
Support the Complete Streets Act of 2009 (H.R. 1443/S 584) Ensures that all users of the transportation system, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, children, older individuals, and individuals with disabilities, are able to travel safely and conveniently on and across federally funded streets and highways.
Support the Clean, Low-Emission, Affordable, New Transportation Efficiency Act (CLEAN-TEA) (H.R. 1329/S 575) Dedicates 10 percent of cap-and-trade climate funds to public transportation, inter-city rail, and the infrastructure changes necessary to make communities more walkable to reduce the amount people drive.
Support the Public Transportation Act of 2010 (S. 3412). The Act would provide $2 billion in emergency assistance for transit systems across the country, like RIPTA, to restore service that has been cut or rescind fares that have been increased since 2009 because of the recession, or to prevent such cuts through September 2011. Agencies that have not and will not experience cuts or fare increases may be able to use the funds for rehab and repair needs.
